Bedford's Purcell Agrees To Join Five Others in 2014-15 Express Volleyball Freshmen Class

Temperance, Mich.---Taylor Purcell, a senior at Bedford High School, has become the latest member of the 2014-15 Express volleyball freshmen class after signing a letter of intent.

The 6'0" middle blocker from the Kicking Mules volleyball team was named Honorable Mention All-Southeastern Conference (SEC), Honorable Mention All-Region and was a recipient of the Bedford Athletic Award as a senior. She helped lead her team to an appearance in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Final Four for the fourth consecutive season.

Academically, she was an SEC Scholar Athlete, an Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association Academic All-Michigan selection and her team earned Academic All-Michigan honors. She is among the top 50 students in her class academically, as well.

"Taylor comes from a tremendous high school program that matches her work ethic on and off the court," said Express volleyball assistant coach Denny Caldwell. "She will make a great addition to the 2014 recruiting class."

As a junior, Purcell had five kills, one dig and one block in the state championship game, although her team lost to Macomb Dakota High School. After also totaling five kills in the state semifinal, she was named the team's most improved player and earned the Bedford High School Athletic Award.

Taylor is the daughter of Timothy and Michelle Purcell. She has a twin brother, Trevor, and she plans on majoring in nursing at Owens.

Purcell joins Macy Reigelsperger, a middle blocker from Coldwater High School in Coldwater, Ohio, Erika Hartings, a right side hitter from Coldwater High School in Coldwater, Ohio, Deanna Smith, a setter from Riverview High School in Riverview, Mich., Ally Mikesell, a middle blocker from St. Henry High School in St. Henry, Ohio and Amara Hemenway, a middle blocker from Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Ohio as members of next year's Express volleyball freshmen class.
