Surge Volleyball Tops Edison

Piqua, OH---Playing in its fourth road match in seven days, the Cincinnati State volleyball team beat Edison Community College 3-1 on Wednesday night.

The Surge, which swept the regular season series with the Chargers, won the first game 25-17, the second 25-16, lost the third game 25-18, and won the fourth 25-17 for their 10th victory of the season.

LaJoyia Whitney led the Surge attack with 12 kills to go along with 4 blocks. Carly Henkenberns finished with a match high 38 digs. Gabby Landis finished with a personal best in both digs (26) and aces (4). Stephanie Gruenwald recorded 8 kills and 22 digs as the Surge won its second game in a row and improved to 10-18 on the season.
 
The team plays its sixth and seventh match in a string of nine straight road matches on Saturday. The Surge face Lorain County at noon followed by Notre Dame College at 3 pm.

Both matches will be held on Lorain County's campus.
