Grand Rapids, MI---Despite getting late notice that they wouldn't get a bye, the No. 17 Express volleyball team made quick work of Alpena Community College in a 25-8, 25-9, 25-12 victory in the Region XII tournament winner's bracket quarterfinals.

Urbanski had a team-high five aces as the Express had 12 as a team.

Thomas led the Express with six assisted blocks, while Sellers had four. Overall, the Express had 17 assisted blocks and one solo block (Thomas).

Notes

Earlier this week, the Express thought they would receive a bye. However, Alpena was a late qualifier, thus forcing the game on Friday.

The Express (32-9) will now advance to face Oakland Community College at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the winner's bracket semifinal at 12 p.m. Should the Express win, they will take on the winner of Mott CC and Columbus State CC at 4 p.m. Oakland CC is the defending champion, and they were the NJCAA D-II National Runner-Up last year. The tournament is double-elimination.
