Kirtland, OH---Freshman Alicia Smychynsky (Thomspon, Ohio / Ledgemont) recorded a career high ten kills, helping Lakeland defeat visiting Mercyhurst North East 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-20) in non-conference women's volleyball action Monday night.  The Lakers improved to 7-13 overall with their third straight win over a non-conference opponent.

Audryana Lucha (Perry, Ohio / Lake Catholic) and Breanna Wilson (Madison, Ohio / Madison) handed out 11 and 14 assists, respectively, while Stephanie Ziegler (Thompson, Ohio / Ledgemont) paced the defensive effort with 15 digs.  Lucha also served a career-high nine aces, part of 17 on the night for the Lakers.

Lakeland will return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 17) when they travel to nationally-ranked Owens for a 5:00 p.m. showdown with the Express.
