Vincennes, Parkland Defeat No. 7 Express In Vincennes Invitational

Vincennes, IN---The No. 7 Express volleyball team dropped two of three matches this weekend in the Vincennes Invitational.

After a 25-15, 25-9, 25-20 win over Kellogg Community College on Friday, the Express dropped two matches on Saturday to Parkland College (23-25, 12-25, 16-25) and Vincennes University (25-20, 13-25, 23-25, 22-25).

On Friday night, Dakia Sellers led the team with 16 kills, while Alyssa Meis added six of her own. Lisa Urbanski had a team-high 22 assists, while Meis had 14 and Molly Hilfinger had 13. Urbanski had a team-high six aces, and the team totaled nine. Urbanski and Meis each led the team with eight digs, while Brandi Schimming had six. Sellers had four assisted blocks and two solo blocks, while Kenzie Kleinhenz had four solo blocks.

Against Parkland, Urbanski had a team-high 19 digs, while Meis added 10. Meis led the way in kills with nine, while Sellers added seven and Jazmine Thomas had five. Hilfinger had the team-high in assists with 21, while Hilfinger also led the team in assisted blocks with three.

In the loss against Vincennes, Meis and Sellers each had a team-high 13 kills, while Hilfinger had a team-high 35 assists. Other team-highs included Urbanski in aces (3), Urbanski in digs (31), Hilfinger in assisted blocks (4) and Thomas in solo blocks with two. Dominique Yates and Thomas each added two assisted blocks, while Meis added 18 digs and Hilfinger added 12 digs.

The Express are now 22-7 overall. All three matches this weekend were non-conference. The team will now take on Region XII foes Macomb Community College and Lansing Community College at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, at home on Oct. 13 in the Owens Quad.
