Circleville, Ohio---The Region XII District I women's basketball tournament kicks off this week! It will feature seven teams from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) battling it out for the conference's lone bid to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament in Overland Park, Kansas.

On Tuesday, three sites of higher seeds will host quarterfinal matchups. The advancing teams will take part in the semifinals on Friday afternoon with the championship game occurring on Saturday at 1 p.m. The final four teams will compete at Ohio Christian University in Circleville, Ohio.

The tournament's No. 1 seed is Owens Community College (24-6 overall, 14-0 OCCAC). The Express just completed its second straight undefeated regular season in conference play, and they are the defending champion after having knocked off Columbus State in last year's final.

Owens will receive a quarterfinal round bye and take on the winner of No. 4 seed Columbus State Community College (12-15 overall, 7-7 OCCAC) and No. 5 seed Sinclair Community College (14-12 overall, 6-8 OCCAC play). That quarterfinal matchup will be hosted by Columbus State at Ohio Christian University on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., and the winner of it will take on Owens at 1 p.m. on Friday.

The tournament's No. 2 seed is Cincinnati State Technical and Community College (20-9 overall, 10-4 OCCAC). They advanced to the semifinals last year and won the tournament two seasons ago. This year, they will host a quarterfinal matchup against No. 7 seed Edison Community College (12-17, 5-9 OCCAC) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The third and final quarterfinal matchup will take place between No. 3 seed Cuyahoga Community College (16-11 overall, 10-4 OCCAC) and No. 6 seed Clark State Community College (10-15 overall).

Clark State, who earned its berth in the tournament despite not being eligible for conference play until next season, will travel to Cuyahoga's Eastern campus for a 5:30 p.m. matchup on Tuesday.

The winner of those two quarterfinals will meet in the second semifinal at 3 p.m. on Friday at Ohio Christian.
