Cochran, Reese Earn OCCAC Player of the Week Awards

Xavier Cochran and Jeryn Reese have been voted as the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player of the week recipients in men's and women's basketball, respectively.

Cochran, a freshman guard, led the Owens Community College men's basketball team to a 77-75 win over Cincinnati State Technical and Community College on Saturday by producing 26 points, eight rebounds (three offensive), three steals and one block.

Cochran finished 9-for-17 from the field, which included a 6-for-9 performance from 3-point range.

In 21 games this year, Cochran is averaging 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game. In six OCCAC games, he has upped his averages to 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per game. He is currently second in the conference in scoring.

Reese, meanwhile, produced 25 points, 17 rebounds (nine offensive), three assists and one steal to lead the No. 10 Owens Community College women's basketball team to a 68-65 win over Cincinnati State Technical and Community College on Saturday.

In 20 games this year, the freshman forward is averaging 12 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 1.1 assists and one block per game. In six OCCAC games, she is averaging 15.8 points, 14.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.

Both Cochran and Reese will be back in action with their respective teams tomorrow with a home doubleheader against Cuyahoga Community College.
