Washington, Reese Earn OCCAC Player of the Week Honors

Marcellous Washington and Jeryn Reese have been named the OCCAC Player of the Week recipients for the week of Jan. 4-10.

Washington, a sophomore guard for the Sinclair Community College men's basketball team, averaged 20.5 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, four steals and one block in two wins last week.

In an 80-60 win over Cincinnati State on Wednesday, Washington had 16 points, nine rebounds, 11 assists, three steals and one block. He followed that up with 25 points, five rebounds, seven assists, five steals and one block in a 100-88 win over Lorain County Community College on Saturday.

Washington has helped lead Sinclair to a 16-0 start overall and a 5-0 mark in OCCAC play. He is averaging 12.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game overall. In OCCAC play, he is averaging 16 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 3.2 steals per game.

Reese, meanwhile, averaged 20 points, 20 rebounds, two steals, 1.5 blocks and one steal per game as a freshman forward for the Owens Community College women's basketball team in two games last week.

In a 116-50 win over Lorain County Community College on Wednesday, Reese totaled 24 points, 21 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist. Then, in a 91-62 win over Columbus State Community College on Saturday, she had 16 points, 19 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Reese is averaging 10.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game this year for Owens (12-6 overall, 4-0 OCCAC). In OCCAC play, she is averaging 15 points, 15.3 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game.
