Coleman, Moore Win OCCAC Player of the Week Honors (Feb. 9-15)

Marvin Coleman and Jonessa Moore have been named the OCCAC player of the week selections in men's and women's basketball, respectively.

Coleman, a sophomore guard for Lorain County Community College, averaged 26.5 points, 10 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game for the Commodores last week.

In a 96-70 loss to Cuyahoga, Coleman had 26 points and 10 rebounds. He followed that up with 27 points and 10 rebounds in a  100-88 win over Columbus State. He finished 18-for-38 from the field, 2-for-8 from 3-point range and 15-for-18 from the foul line combined.

Coleman is averaging 19.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game for Lorain County. The Commordores are 13-14 overall and 4-9 in OCCAC play. They will travel to Owens Community College tomorrow for their final conference game of the season.

Moore, meanwhile, averaged 30.5 points, 14 rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block per game for Cincinnati State's women's basketball team last week.

In an 82-69 win over Edison, the sophomore center had 36 points, 18 rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal. Then, in a 90-39 win over Cuyahoga, she had 25 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and one assist.

In those two games, Moore shot a combined 26-for-42 from the field and 8-for-11 from the foul line.

In nine games this year, Moore is averaging 22.4 points and 11.9 rebounds per game for Cincinnati State. The Surge are 17-9 overall and 8-3 in OCCAC play, and they travel to Columbus State tomorrow.
