Anderson, Upshaw Win OCCAC Player of the Week Honors (Feb. 2-8)

Grover Anderson and Nicole Upshaw have been named the OCCAC player of the week selections in men's and women's basketball, respectively.

Anderson, a freshman guard for the Cincinnati State Technical and Community College men's basketball team, averaged 29 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 assists and three steals per game last week. 

In a 75-74 win over Sinclair, Anderson recorded 26 points, seven rebounds, six assists and one steal. He finished 9-for-16 from the field and 8-for-9 from the foul line. Then, in a 95-72 win over Lorain County, he had 32 points, seven rebounds, five steals, one assist and one block. He went 12-for-16 from the field and 8-for-10 from the foul line.

Anderson is averaging 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game this year for Cincinnati State (20-5 overall, 7-2 OCCAC). They will host Edison Community College tomorrow evening.

Upshaw, meanwhile, is a sophomore guard for Lakeland Community College. She averaged 22 points, 7.5 rebounds, five assists and 3.5 steals in wins over Lorain County Community College and Edison Community College.

In a 77-49 win over Lorain County, Upshaw had 16 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals. She followed that up with a career-high 28 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and three assists in a 66-54 win over Edison. It was her first double-double of the season.

Upshaw is averaging 13 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 steals and two assists per game for Lakeland (13-11 overall, 6-3 OCCAC play). They will travel to Owens Community College on Wednesday evening.
