Murry, Tunstall Win OCCAC Player of the Week Honors (Dec. 15-21)

John Murry and Ashley Tunstall have been named the OCCAC player of the week in men's and women's basketball, respectively, for the week of Dec. 15-21.

Murry, a sophomore guard from Owens Community College, averaged 28 points, 10.5 rebounds and four assists per game over two games last week. 

In a 102-86 win on the road over Jackson College, Murry had 34 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one steal. He finished 7-for-7 from 3-point range. Then, in a 106-101 double overtime loss to Schoolcraft College, he had 22 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and one block.

Murry is averaging 19.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game for Owens (11-4 overall). Owens will be back in action on the road at Mott Community College on Dec. 30.

Tunstall, meanwhile, led Owens Community College to three wins in the Palm Beach Holiday Classic this past weekend. The sophomore forward did so while averaging 14.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

In a 88-69 win over Clinton Junior College, she had 22 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. In a 74-48 win over Tohono O'odham Community College, she had 11 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and one steal. Then, in an 89-81 win over Palm Beach Community College, she had 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and one block.

Tunstall is averaging 13.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game for Owens (13-1 overall). Owens is back in action on the road Dec. 30 against Mott Community College.
