Groves, Carlisle Win OCCAC Player of the Week Honors (Nov. 24-30)

Darren Groves and LaKayra Carlisle have been named the OCCAC player of the week selections in men's and women's basketball for the week of Nov. 24-30.

Groves, a freshman forward for Owens Community College, broke the school's single game rebounding record with 28, while also adding 29 points, three assists, two blocks and one steal in a 116-61 win over Washtenaw Community College in the team's only game of the week.

Owens is now 7-2 this year, and they are getting 12.3 points and 11 rebounds per game from Groves. They will host Mott Community College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Carlisle, a sophomore forward for Owens Community College, nearly had two 15-15 games for Owens in two wins this past weekend. In a 75-55 win over Schoolcraft College, she had 17 points and 14 rebounds. Then, in a 77-51 win over No. 2 Kalamazoo Valley, she produced 13 points and 15 rebounds in only 23 minutes.

Carlisle is averaging 10.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game for Owens (8-1). They will host Mott Community College at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
