Ricketts leads Owens women past Cincinnati State

Toledo, OH---In Saturday's Ohio Community College Athletic Conference women's basketball contest featuring the two top teams in the standings, Owens Community College's Emma-Jean Ricketts finished with 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead her team to a 82-65 win over Cincinnati State.  

Down 36-60 at half, Owens' Nandi Taylor led her team to on a run, scoring 10 of her 12 points in the second frame while recording 5 assists.

In addition to Ricketts game-high 21 points, Uniqua Mitchell chipped in 14 points and Karahn Scott scored 13 as Owens avenged an overtime loss to Cincinnati State earlier in the season.  

Desiree Ash led Cincinnati State with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Despite playing with an injured shooting hand, Hannah Stephenson finished with 11 points and 7 assists.

The loss snapped the Surge's six game winning streak.  

With both teams sitting on top the conference with identical 8-2 records, Owens will finish the season with games against Columbus State (19-8; 6-3) and Edison (14-5; 5-3). Cincinnati State will return home to face Sinclair on Wednesday (6-7;5-3) before traveling to play Cuyahoga (3-15;1-7) in the regular season finale.
