Cincinnati State's Cameron Vaughn named NJCAA "Player of the Week"

Cincinnati, OH---The National Junior College Athletic Association has named Cincinnati State sophomore Cameron Vaughn the "National Player of the Week" after two double-double performances as Cincinnati State beat Edison and Lakeland in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play this past week. 

In a 67-59 victory over Edison, Vaughn finished with 17 points and 17 rebounds. In Saturday's 88-40 win over Lakeland, Vaughn recorded 17 points and 16 rebounds, with 14 coming in the second half. Those totals (34 points, 33 rebounds) gave her averages of 17 points and 16.5 rebounds this week.

In OCCAC play, she is averaging 17.6 points and 15.9 rebounds. Vaughn, who earned conference player of the week honors on Monday, currently leads the nation in offensive rebounds per game (6.9) and is sixth in nation in rebounds per game (14.3). 

Vaughn and the Surge will take on Columbus State Community College at home tonight before traveling to Owens Community College on Feb. 16.

Her team is currently 22-4 overall and 7-1 in the OCCAC. Both games will play a large part in a close race for the OCCAC championship.
