Cincinnati State stays on top of conference with 67-59 road win over Edison

Piqua, OH---The Cincinnati State women's basketball team beat Edison Community College 67-59 in a key Ohio Community College Athletic Conference match up on Wednesday night.
Entering the game with a 5-1 conference record and a 1 game lead in the standings over Edison, the Surge found themselves down 13-8 to the Chargers at the 12:53 mark in the first period before going on a 20-0 run to take a 10 point lead into halftime.
In the second half, Edison went on a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 4 with 1:00 remaining. Forced to foul, Edison sent the Lady Surge to the line where Cincinnati State converted 7 of 8 free throws to extend the lead and seal their fourth straight victory.
Cincinnati State freshman Desiree Ash finished with a game high 26 points. Cameron Vaughn recorded her 16th double-double of the season with 17 points and 16 rebounds.
Brooke Richards led Edison with 20 points and 8 rebounds as the Chargers fell to a 4-3 mark in conference play.
Staying on top the OCCAC with a 6-1 record and improving to 21-4 overall, Cincinnati State will return home on Saturday to face Lakeland Community College at 1 p.m.
