Cincinnati State women lose 75-60 to Kirkwood

Peoria, IL---The Cincinnati State women's basketball team lost 75-60 to Kirkwood Community College in the first round of the Illinois Central College Holiday Women's Basketball Invitational on Friday.

Kirkwood, which entered the game ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA national poll, was led by Kianna Jacobs, who finished with 21 points and 8 rebounds. For Cincinnati State, freshman Desiree Ash led the team in scoring with 15 points. Brandi Henschen, a Mt. Healthy graduate, went five for five from the field, finishing with 14 points and 5 rebounds.

Kirkwood out rebounded the Surge 47-31, which resulted in a 13-8 advantage in second chance points. Kirkwood also outscored the Surge 19-10 in points off of turnovers.

Falling to 11-2 on the season, Cincinnati State will return to action on Saturday against Kankakee College in the tournament consolation bracket at 2 pm CST.
