Cincinnati, OH---The Cincinnati State women's basketball team beat the University of Pikeville JV 77-55 on Tuesday night.
Entering the game with only seven active players due to multiple injuries and forced to finish the game with six after Kindsay Brandt suffered a dislocated thumb in the first half, Cincinnati State head coach Sonya Beeler relied on freshman forward Desiree Ash, a graduate of Hamilton High School, to provide a spark on offense. Playing 35 minutes, Ash converted 11 of 14 field goals in route to a game-high 28 points. For Ash, it was the third game in a row that she scored in double-figures.
6'4 center Samantha Paratore finished with 13 points, a personal best 19 rebounds and 7 blocks. Hayle Phillips recorded 15 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Point guard Grace McDougall, who played all 40 minutes of the game, finished with 11 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds as the team earned its third straight victory.
Cincinnati State, which improved to 10-1 overall, will return to action on the road against Wayne County Community College (MI) on Saturday.
