Palm Beach, FL---Uniqua Mitchell came within one point of a career-high in scoring, while Emma-Jean Ricketts finished with a double-double as the Express women's basketball team defeated Central Wyoming College 70-54 in the Palm Beach Classic today.

The Express started the game off strong as they took a 20-5 lead just a little over six minutes into the game. A mid-range corner jumper from Mitchell then ended the half as the Express led 35-24.

Central Wyoming cut the lead to 37-33 with just over 15 minutes remaining, but the Express bounced back and stretched the lead to as many as 22 late in the second half.

Mitchell finished with 23 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks, while Ricketts had 11 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Mitchell was one point of her career high of 24 points against Ashland last year.

Nandi Taylor added 12 points, seven assists and two steals from the point.

Central Wyoming was led by Stephanie Smith, who finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Marissa Hogan added 12 points. Elise Keller had a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Express were successful, in large part, due to a much improved offensive efficiency in which the team only turned the ball over three times in the first half and 13 overall - a season low. Additionally, the Express finished 18-for-19 (.947) from the foul line - also a season best.

The Express (10-4) will return home to take on Mott Community College on the road Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
