Frederick, Connally-Banks Garner Season's First Basketball POTW Awards

Springfield, Ohio---Akiean Frederick and Madison Connally-Banks of Sinclair Community College have been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player of the week recipients in men's basketball and women's basketball, respectively.

Frederick produced 21 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 28 minutes to help lead his team to a 108-66 win over Kellogg last week. It was his team's season opener.

Connally-Banks averaged 17.5 points, 10 rebounds, 1.5 assists, two steals and 0.5 blocks per game over a two-game stretch last week that included wins over Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Kellogg Community College.

In her team's 63-47 win over WPAFB, Connally-Banks had 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting, along with 11 rebounds, two steals and one assist. Then, in a 71-34 win over Kellogg, she had 15 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one block.

Congratulations to both players! The awards mark the season's first for men's and women's basketball.
