Hobbs scores 37 as Surge top Oakland Community College in overtime

Monroe, N.Y.---Playing the opening game of the Pete Pavia Scholarship Tournament in Monroe, NY on Saturday, Cincinnati State sophomore Hugh Hobbs scored a career high 37 points to lead the Surge to a 123-119 overtime victory over previously undefeated Oakland Community College.

Hobbs, the reigning OCCAC Player of the Week, went 8-11 from the field and converted all 21 free throw attempts in the game. Freshman Terron Ramsey, a 6'7 forward from Detroit, MI, finished with 23 points and 16 rebounds. 

As a team, Cincinnati State set a school record with 81 free throw attempts, converting 49. Led by Ramsey, the Surge out rebounded Oakland 49-39.

With the loss, Oakland is now 4-1 on the season. 

Cincinnati State, which is ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA national poll with a 10-1 record, will play in Sunday's tournament championship against the winner of the Monroe Community College - Niagara College game.
