Sinclair Men’s Basketball offense clicks in win against Cedarville JV 104-67

Dayton, Ohio---The Sinclair Men's Basketball team (3-1) hosted the Cedarville JV team (1-1).  

Sinclair played in their second of three games at home this week on tonight and for the second consecutive game found an offensive rhythm and beat Cedarville 104-67.

It was a close game from the start with Sinclair taking the initial lead but Cedarville hit a three pointer and then remained close for most of the first half.  Marquez Carpenter-Mathis had an open court steal that lead to layup and foul putting Sinclair up 15-6.  

The Pride went down low twice in a row to Charles Sweatt-Washington for back-to-back baskets putting Sinclair up 26-16 with under 7:00 in the first half.  Ramar Hairston had eight consecutive points with under 3:00 minutes to play and Sinclair leading 35-23.  

Cedarville moved the ball well in the last possession and came back with a dunk as time expired in the first half.  Sinclair went into halftime with a 39-27 advantage.  Ramar Hairston led the first half with 10 points. Cedarville came out in the second half and went on a 4-0 run to start.  

With the help of Charles Sweatt-Washington inside dominance and Ramar Hairtson's back-to-back three pointer, Sinclair blasted out to a 58-35 lead with under 15 minutes to play.  

Marquez Carpenter-Mathis and Deiontay Walters hit threes on back-to-back trips down the court putting the Sinclair lead up to 80-51.  Ramar Hairston hit back-to-back three pointers to put Sinclair up 100-61.  

Aaron Montgomery (6-3/SO – Mooresville H.S. – Indianapolis, IN) hit consecutive buckets with under a minute left in the game giving Sinclair a 104-67 win.

Scoring leaders for Sinclair included Ramar Hairston (6-1/FR – Northwest H.S., Cincinnati, OH) who was on fire from three-point range connecting on six of seven, ending the night with 24 points and four assists.  

Wesley Parr (6-7/FR – Benedictine H.S., Cleveland, OH) recorded 20 points and seven rebounds, while Charles Sweatt-Washington (6-7/FR – Lafayette H.S., Lexington, KY) added 18 points and seven rebounds.  

Deiontay Walters (5-10/FR – Princeton H.S., Cincinnati, OH) had seven points, eight rebounds and led the team with 12 assists.  Marquez Carpenter-Mathis (6-6/FR – Western Hills H.S., Cincinnati, OH) had a solid performance with nine points, five assists, and four steals.

Sinclair will be at home again on Saturday when they host Schoolcraft College at 4:00 PM in building 8 at Sinclair Community College.  The men will precede the women who play at 2:00 PM.
