Sinclair men’s basketball beats WPAFB 102-95

Dayton, Ohio---On Veterans Day, the Sinclair Men's Basketball team (2-1) hosted the Wright Patterson Air Force team.  

Four members from the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard presented the Colors for the National Anthem which was performed by Technical Sergeant Alyson Jones from the Air Force Band of Flight.

Wright Patterson started out strong taking the lead, but Sinclair soon took the lead and at half were ahead 56-44. Sinclair was lead in the first half by Trace Cureton with 18 points and Charles Sweatt-Washington who had 14 points.  

Sinclair shot 50 percent in the first half and 63.6 perecent from the free throw line. 

At half-time, Sinclair honored Sergeant Charlie Krandall of the 36th Army Infantry Division, who was Sinclair's honorary coach.  The Sinclair team met Krandall when they visited the VA hospital in September.  

Sergeant Krandall was a POW for 22 months in Germany during WWII.  

After Sinclair honored Krandall, Colonel Cassie Barlow, 88th Air Base Wing and Installation Commander at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Chief Master Sergeant Charles Hoffman recognized Airmen that volunteer their time on base and in the local community. 

Sinclair came out very strong in the second half with their tenacious defense forcing the Hawks to 18 turnovers.  Ramar Hairston hit three 3-pointers to put the Tartan Pride up 74-58. The Hawks continued to battle the whole game cutting the deficit to ten and were pressing until the last second of the game, but came up short.  

Sinclair won 102-95. 

Charles Sweatt-Washington (6-7/FR – Lafayette H.S., Lexington, KY) had another stellar performance with a double-double recording 24 points and 12 rebounds.  Trace Cureton (6-4/SO – Cathedral H.S., Indianapolis, IN) added 18 points and four rebounds while Ramar Hairston (6-1/FR – Northwest H.S., Cincinnati, OH) added 15 points. Deiontay Walters (5-10/FR – Princeton H.S., Cincinnati, OH) racked up 13 points and four rebounds while Conner Myslowski (6-4/FR – West Carrollton H.S., West Carrollton, OH) added 11 points.

Sinclair will be at home again on Wednesday when they take on Cedarville JV at 7:30 PM in building 8 at Sinclair Community College.  The women's game will be at 5:30 PM.
