Cleveland, OH---Cincinnati State clinched the 3rd seed in next week's district tournament with a 70-47 road win over Cuyahoga Community College on Saturday.
Freshman Winston Grays led all scorers with 25 points, 5 of 8 three point attempts and making all 8 free throws. Sophomore Tom Jackson finished with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The Cincinnati State win avenged an 85-73 loss to Cuyahoga earlier this season.
Cuyahoga, which will compete as the 4th seed in the tournament, fell to 6-6 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference play and will host 5th seeded Columbus State on Tuesday.
Cincinnati State finishes the regular season 20-8 overall with a 7-5 record in conference play. The Surge will host 6th seeded Edison Community College in the 1st round of the district tournament on Tuesday at 7 pm.
The Cincinnati State campus will host the men's and women's district semifinals on Friday, March 8 and finals on Saturday, March 9.
