Surge sweep regular season series with 90-64 win over rival Columbus State

Cincinnati, OH---Cincinnati State took the two game regular season series with a 90-64 win over Columbus State Community College on Wednesday night.

Cincinnati State freshman Devonte Smith led six Cincinnati State double-digit scorers with 18 points, converting 9 of 10 field goals. Point guard Tom Jackson finished with 16 points, a game-high 11 assists, and 3 steals. Tyler Fischl went 3 of 6 from beyond the arc to finish with 13 points. Chrisean Marsden posted his third double-double in as many games with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Kevin Marshall and Winston Grays each scored 10 as Cincinnati State improved 4-5 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.

"No matter where each team stands in the conference, our games with Columbus State are always intense and hard fought contests," Head Coach Andre Tate said. "Whenever we get two wins against them, it is a tremendous boost of confidence for our team."

Columbus State, which is near the bottom of the conference with a 2-7 conference record, was led by Kendrick Williams' game-high 24 points.

Improving to 17-8 overall, Cincinnati State will return to action on the road against Owens Community College on Saturday. Owens beat the Surge by 1-point last month.
