Ivery and Hill lead No. 13 Cincinnati State to 99-62 victory over Ivy Tech

Cincinnati, OH---Cincinnati State freshmen Jamal Ivery and Lionel Hill led the Surge to a 99-62 victory over Ivy Tech on Tuesday night.

Ivery, a North College Hill graduate, finished with a game high 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals. Hill, who was a standout player at Western Hills, came off the the bench to score 13 points and led all players with 5 assists. Winston Grays, who did not finish the game due to injury, scored 16 points. Returning to the lineup for the first time in five games, Chrisean Marsden finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

"Our guys showed a lot of intensity on defense. Our freshmen led the way tonight by creating easy baskets off of Ivy's turnovers," Head Coach Andre Tate said.

The Surge defense, which ranks No. 1 in the nation in steals per game (18.0), recorded 30 steals on Tuesday, resulting in a 40-5 advantage in points off of turnovers.

Cincinnati State, which is ranked No. 13 in the latest NJCAA national polls with a 13-3 record, will begin conference play on the road against Lakeland Community College on Saturday.
