Cincinnati State men's basketball wins 114-44 in home opener

Cincinnati, OH---The Cincinnati State men's basketball team won its home opener on Wednesday night.

Winning 114-44, the Surge were led by 6'11 sophomore Dwayne Bazemore and freshman guard Winston Grays. Bazemore scored 14 of his 20 points in the first seven minutes of the game and led the Surge in rebounding with 17. Grays finished with a game high 21 points to go along with 4 steals. Point guard Thomas Jackson, who played limited minutes due to soreness in his right leg, finished with 14 points and 10 assists. O'Brien Hobbs, who got the starting nod from Head Coach Andre Tate, finished with 11 points and 8 assists. Devonte Smith chipped in with 13 points and 8 rebounds.

As a team, the Surge out rebounded their opponent 62-20 and won the assist battle 36-8.

With the win, the Surge improve to 4-1 on the season heading into Friday's road game against Moraine Valley, a team ranked No. 11 in the NJCAA national poll.
