Dayton, OH---Sinclair Men's basketball team opened their 2012-13 season in fine fashion with an 89-69 win against Miami University - Hamilton.

The Pride started the game with a 10-2 run on their way to a 43-27 half time margin.  Both teams did not shoot the ball well but strong defense and easy transition buckets helped push the lead out to 35-9 before MUH made a small run to close the gap.

Sinclair was not able to put the Harriers away in the second half as the visitors slowed the pace of the game by getting to the foul line 19 times and getting into the Sinclair bench.

Mark Allen (6-3 SO/Cincinnati – Northwest H.S.) lead all scorers with 26 points and 7 rebounds.  Sophomore Point Guard Charlie Byers (5-11 FR/Cincinnati - Moeller H.S.) came close to a triple-double tonight as he posted 16 points 11 assists and 9 rebounds.  Gavin Schumann (6-1 FR/Cincinnati - Roger Bacon H.S.) also scored in double figures with 15.  The Pride controlled the boards all night with 5 players grabbing 7 or more rebounds.

Sinclair will travel to Flint (MI) Saturday to take on the NJCAA Division II defending national champions and pre-season number 1 Mott CC Bears at 3:00pm.
