Baseball’s Comeback Falls Short Against Oberlin College (JV), 7-4

March 15, 2022 – The Lorain County Community College baseball team's comeback effort against Oberlin College's JV squad fell short Monday evening, 7-4, as the game was called in the ninth inning as both teams ran out of daylight.

After trading runs for the first couple of innings, Oberlin scored three runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth inning which put the Yeoman up for good.  The Commodores scored a run in the seventh and eighth innings before the game was called.

Pitching for the Commodores was Cody DeVos (Pictured, Bay Village, Ohio/Bay HS) who went five innings with six strikeouts.  After Casey Ison (Amherst, Ohio/Marion L. Steele HS) pitched the sixth, Fred Weimer (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS) and Elijah Olah (Columbia Station, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) combined for two shutout innings with Olah striking out the side in the eighth.

Providing offense for the Commodores was Kobie Parker (Cleveland, Ohio/Villa Angela-St. Joseph HS) with two runs batted in, going 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly.  Mike Flachbart (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville HS) and Austin Isenhart (Elyria, Ohio/Midview HS) each drove in a run.  Leadoff hitter Nick Werth (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion HS), along with Flachbart, walked twice in the contest.
