Sinclair Baseball Takes Two of Three Against Regional Foe Macomb

GAME 1

A shaky first inning out of LHP Patrick Boyle would lead to an early 1-0 lead for Macomb. Boyle would settle and went 5 more innings striking out 5, while allowing just 4 hits.

Sinclair would not get on the board until the bottom of the third. Andrew Holderman reached on an error by the right fielder to lead off the inning. After courtesy runner Mitch Roman stole second base and Ben Herlihy walked, Sinclair executed a double steal putting both runners in scoring position. Titus Montgomery would score Roman to even things up at 1 on a RBI ground out to second base.

The score would stay all tied up until the 5th. That's when Holderman got things started again, this time with a walk to lead off the inning. Herlihy followed up with a single, advancing courtesy runner Roman to third. With runners on first and third and no outs Mark Carpenter tripled home both runners with a deep drive into the gap at Grady's field. Eric Hansman and Pete Ballard would both add RBI singles in the inning to put Sinclair up 5-1.

Starter Pat Boyle finished the night with 5 strikeouts over 6 innings allowing 1 run to improve to 3-0 on the season. Zac Edwards pitched a scoreless 7th in his first outing in two weeks.

GAME 2

The Tartan offense exploded in game two with four players collecting multiple hits. In the bottom of the first Mitch Roman got things started with a double, Taylor Huebner would then single Roman home. Huebner would later score when Pete Ballard singled up the middle.

Sinclair scored four more times in the second inning taking 6-1 lead over Macomb. Ben Herlihy and Taylor Huebner both had RBI singles in the inning, while Mitch Roman drove in two runs on his first triple of the game. Things stayed quite until the 4th, that's when Mark Carpenter was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Roman then hit his second triple of the game plating Carpenter, Taylor Huebner followed with a deep drive to center that cleared the fences for his second home run of the season putting Sinclair ahead 9-1.

Alonso Palacios would end the game in the 5th with a 2 RBI double, giving Sinclair the run rule advantage going up 11-1

Sinclair Starter Carlo Pena improved his record to 5-0, pitching all 5 innings of the short contest. Pena allowed just 1R over 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1.

GAME 3

Sinclair starter Bryan Murphy did everything he could to pick up his first win of the season. Murphy pitched 7 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 10 Macomb hitters. It just wasn't enough on this cold day, as the Sinclair offense would only score once in 9 innings.

Tied 1-1 entering the 8th Macomb would score twice and the inning. Macomb added two more runs in the 9th to build a 4-1 lead.

FINAL: Sinclair 1, Macomb 4
