Brooke Richards and Bikramjit Gill have been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Players of the Week.
Richards is a sophomore guard from Edison Community College, while Gill is a sophomore forward from Owens Community College.
Richards opened the week with 31 points, eight rebounds and two assists in an 80-76 loss to No. 16 Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. She followed that up with 27 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal in a win over Cuyahoga Community College.
She averaged 29 points, 7.5 rebounds and two assists over those two games for Edison (11-3 overall and 1-1 in OCCAC play).
For the season, Richards is averaging 20.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game for Edison, who will host Sinclair Community College tomorrow before traveling to Columbus State on Saturday.
"She's a true competitor," Edison women's basketball coach Kim Rank said of Richards.
Gill, meanwhile, led the Express men's basketball team to a 92-86 upset of No. 3 Cincinnati State Technical and Community College on Saturday.
After missing Wednesday's game against Cuyahoga, Gill nearly produced a triple-double in his only game of the week with 22 points, 14 rebounds, eight blocks and one steal.
He finished 7-for-11 from the field and 8-for-10 from the foul line.
For the season, Gill is averaging 13.1 points, 7.8
rebounds and a little over two blocks per contest for the Express
(15-4, 2-0 OCCAC).
"Bik did a phenomenal job in the sense that he almost had a
triple-double, but he was big in the post," said Owens men's
basketball head coach Dave Clarke. "He was straight up. He
rebounded well. We are a very good team if we can rebound and we
can run, and that relies a lot upon Bik."
Owens will travel to Lakeland Community College for a 7:30 p.m. matchup tomorrow before an off day on Saturday.
