Melanie Primer and Trent Donald have been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Players of the Week.

Primer is a freshman forward from Lakeland Community College, while Donald is a freshman forward from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.

Primer had 16 points, 19 rebounds and three blocks in a 68-62 loss to conference foe Sinclair Community College on Saturday.

Earlier in the week, she had 12 points, 10 rebounds and two assists against Erie Community College, followed by a nine point, 10 rebound, one assist game against Niagara County Community College.

"Melanie has continued to provide Lakeland with a solid inside presence," said Lakeland head women's basketball coach Amanda Blazetic. "Her ability to rebound and score on the inside has been a key part of our game plan.  She will continue to improve and grow as our season continues."

Primer is averaging 9.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.1 assist per game this year for the Lakers.

Donald, meanwhile, led Cincinnati State to a 116-64 victory against Cuyahoga in the opening game of OCCAC play on Saturday.

He led all scorers with 19 points, a season high 13 rebounds and three steals as the Surge cruised to their first conference victory of the season.

"Trent has been playing great over the past couple of games. He had 36 points in a big road win over Olive-Harvey and followed it up with another tremendous performance on both ends of the floor against Cuyahoga," said Cincinnati State head coach Andre Tate. "When we need a basket, he is one of the guys who will come through for us."

Donald has helped lead the Surge to a 15-2 record (1-0 in OCCAC) and the No. 3 ranking in the NJCAA national poll. He is averaging 13.9 ppg, 6.1 rpg and 1.2 spg while shooting 51 percent from the field.

Congratulations to both players on their accomplishments!
