Stephenson, Berry Named OCCAC Players of the Week

Hannah Stephenson and Orlando Berry have been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Players of the Week.

Both players hail from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.

Stephenson, a sophomore guard, led Cincinnati State to road wins over Moraine Valley and South Suburban this past weekend. Both games were part of the South Suburban Holiday Tournament.

In Friday's 83-62 win over Moraine Valley, Stephenson finished 7-for-10 from the field for 19 points, six assists and two steals. Then, in Saturday's 66-65 win over South Suburban, she recorded 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Stephenson was named the tournament MVP. She has led Cincinnati State to three straight wins and a 7-2 overall record.

For the season, Stephenson is averaging 9.1 points, 4.8 assists (team-high), 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game.

Meanwhile, Berry had 10 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds and five steals in an 88-64 win over Ancilla College. It was his team's only game of the week.

"We have a lot of great players on our team this season," said Cincinnati State head men's basketball coach Andre Tate, "and OB has been my MVP thus far."

It was the sixth straight win for Cincinnati State, who is ranked No. 1 in the nation.

Berry has led Cincinnati State to a 12-1 record while averaging 10.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game while shooting 58.2 percent from the field. His 7.1 assists per game is eighth in the nation at the NJCAA D-II level.
