Gill, Richards Earn OCCAC Player of the Week Honors

Bikramjit Gill and Brooke Richards have been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Players of the Week.

Gill, a sophomore forward from Toronto, averaged 22.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, four blocks, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists as No. 11 Owens Community College picked up wins over Edison Community College (105-70) and Columbus State Community College (94-83).

On Feb. 19, Gill played only 17 minutes in the win over Edison, but produced 24 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, two blocks and one assist. He finished 10-for-12 from the field, 1-for-1 from 3-point range and 3-for-6 from the foul line.

On Feb. 22, Gill finished 9-for-13 from the field, 1-for-2 from 3-point range and 2-for-3 from the foul line in the win over Columbus State. He finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, six blocks and two assists.

Gill is averaging 17.8 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and two steals per game in conference play. He is fourth in the conference in scoring, first in rebounding, first in blocks and eighth in steals.

Gill and the Express are 22-5 overall and 9-1 in OCCAC play. They travel to Cuyahoga Community College tomorrow for a 7 p.m. matchup.

Richards, meanwhile, averaged 23 points, 7.5 rebounds and six assists as Edison Community College split a pair of games last week.

In an 86-67 loss to Owens Community College on Feb. 19, Richards finished 7-for-16 from the field, 3-for-5 from 3-point range and 6-for-7 from the foul line. She totaled 23 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

In Saturday's 94-63 win over Lakeland, Richards finished 6-for-17 from the field, 3-for-8 from 3-point range and 8-for-10 from the foul line. She totaled 23 points, eight assists, five rebounds and one steal.

In OCCAC play, Richards is averaging 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game. She is the conference's second leading scorer and is sixth in assists.

Richards and the Chargers (16-6 overall, 7-4 OCCAC) will travel to Columbus State on Wednesday for a 1 p.m. matchup. The game will likely determine the No. 3 seed in the upcoming district tournament.

Notes

Richards has now been named OCCAC player of the week three times this year. She previously won it on Nov. 24 and Jan. 19.

Gill has now won OCCAC player of the week honors four times this year. He previously won on Dec. 8, Jan. 19 and Jan. 26.
