Santos, Dunlevy Earn OCCAC Basketball Player of the Week Honors

Joshua Santos and Brooke Dunlevy have been voted the OCCAC Player of the Week recipients in men's and women's basketball, respectively, for the week ending Feb. 21.

Santos, a sophomore forward from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, averaged 22 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists and one steal per game last week while averaging 55.2 percent from the field.

In his team's 91-88 loss to Edison Community College last Wednesday, Santos had 25 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals on 10-for-16 shooting, including a 2-for-3 mark from 3-point range. He followed that up with 19 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one block on 6-for-13 shooting (4-for-8 from 3-point range) in a 68-62 loss to Lakeland Community College.

Both games marked a return to action for Santos, who missed his team's previous eight games. In 21 games played this year, he is averaging 10.7 points, seven rebounds and two assists while shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range. In six OCCAC games, he is averaging 12.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

Cincinnati State is 14-15 overall and 3-10 in OCCAC play. They close out conference play with a 3 p.m. home game against Owens Community College on Saturday.

Dunlevy is a sophomore guard from Edison Community College who averaged 30.5 points, two rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 51.3 percent from the field last week.

In her team's 71-55 loss to Cincinnati State, Dunlevy produced 28 points, two rebounds and one steal. She shot 8-for-17 from the field and 11-for-13 from the foul line. Then, in her team's 85-80 win over Columbus State, she produced 33 points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals while shooting 12-for-22 from the field and 6-for-10 from the foul line.

In 27 games this year, Dunlevy is averaging 21.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game. In 13 OCCAC games, she is averaging 20.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Dunlevy recently eclipsed 1,000 career points in a game against Owens Community College. She has 1,098 career points currently.

Edison is currently 12-16 overall and 5-8 in OCCAC play. They will close conference play by traveling to Sinclair Community College for a 1 p.m. matchup on Saturday.
