Powell, Reese Named Player of the Week Recipients In Basketball

Manny Powell and Jeryn Reese have been voted the OCCAC player of the week recipients in men's and women's basketball, respectively, for the week of Feb. 8-14.

Powell, a sophomore guard for Sinclair Community College, averaged 24 points, 2.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 0.5 steals over two games while shooting 17-for-30 from the field.

In an 87-55 win over Clark State Community College, Powell had 30 points, two rebounds and two assists. Then, in a 115-88 win over Lorain County Community College, he produced 18 points, three rebounds, seven assists and one steal.

Powell is averaging 14.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game this year overall for Sinclair (25-2, 11-1 OCCAC). In OCCAC play, he is third on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game, while adding 2.6 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Through last week, he had 858 career points.

Reese, a freshman forward for Owens Community College, averaged 13.5 points, 16 rebounds, 1.5 assists, two steals and 1.5 blocks over two games last week while shooting 12-for-20 from the field.

In a 105-53 win over Edison Community College, Reese had 15 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block. Then, in a 75-58 win over Columbus State, she added 12 points, 18 rebounds, two blocks and one steal. 

Reese is averaging 12.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, one assist, 2.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per game over this year for Owens (21-6 overall, 12-0 OCCAC). In conference play, she is averaging 15.1 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.
