The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its 2014-15 Academic Team of the Year awards, and four OCCAC schools were awarded honorable mention recognition.

The NJCAA named 25 institutions as NJCAA Academic Team of the Year recipients, which goes to the school with the highest team GPA in each respective NJCAA sport.

Furthermore, the NJCAA awards honorable mention honors to any team with at least a 3.0 GPA. In the OCCAC, four schools reached that milestone.

At Owens Community College, the softball and women's volleyball team each eclipsed the 3.0 mark. The softball team came in with the highest GPA of any sport in the OCCAC with a 3.34, while the women's volleyball team posted a 3.05 GPA.

It is the third consecutive year that each of those teams have achieved the honor.

Another team with continued success is Sinclair Community College's women's volleyball program, which achieved a 3.09 team GPA. It was also their third consecutive season with the honor.

Lorain County Community College's women's volleyball team posted a 3.13 team GPA to become the fourth and final team to be recognized.

Aside from the 25 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year winners, an additional 566 programs earned honorable mention recognition.
