Owens Community College Captures 2012-13 All-Sports Award

Owens Community College has captured the 2012-13 Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) All-Sports Award.

The award honors the top athletic department in terms of overall performance in OCCAC standings. Each school gets points for where they finish in each sport. Each school's total is then divided by the number of sports the school has in the OCCAC. Women's soccer (Owens and Cincinnati State) does not count in OCCAC standings.

Here are the 2012-13 results:

1st Place: Owens Community College

Owens captured at least a share of four OCCAC titles (men's soccer, women's basketball, women's volleyball and men's golf) this year. In two other sports (softball and men's basketball), they finished in second place. Another sport, baseball, finished fourth.

Owens average: 9.2 

2nd Place: Cincinnati State Technical and Community College

Cincinnati State shared the men's soccer title with Owens, while the men's basketball team finished third, the women's basketball team finished second and the men's golf team tied for third place.

Cincinnati State total points: 34
Cincinnati State average: 8.5

3rd Place: Columbus State Community College

Columbus State finished second in women's volleyball, fifth in men's basketball, fourth in women's basketball, and second in men's golf.

Columbus State total points: 31
Columbus State average: 7.75

4th Place: Lakeland Community College 

Lakeland captured the OCCAC men's basketball championship this year, while their baseball team captured a share of first place. Aside from those two sports, men's soccer finished third, women's volleyball finished in sixth place, women's basketball finished seventh, men's golf tied for third and softball finished in third place.

Lakeland averge: 7.71 

5th Place: Cuyahoga Community College

Cuyahoga's softball team captured the OCCAC championship, while their baseball team captured a share of first place. Aside from those two sports, men's basketball and men's soccer each finished fourth, while women's basketball finished sixth and women's volleyball finished seventh.

Cuyahoga average: 7.1 

6th Place: Sinclair Community College

Sinclair finished third in women's volleyball and baseball, fourth in softball, fifth in women's basketball and seventh in men's basketball.

Sinclair total points: 33
Sinclair average: 6.6

7th Place: Lorain County Community College

Lorain County finished fourth in women's volleyball and fifth in men's golf.

Lorain County total points: 13
Lorain County average: 6.5

8th Place: Edison Community College

Edison finished third in women's basketball, fifth in women's volleyball and sixth in men's basketball.

Edison total points: 19
Edison average: 6.3
