Spring Athletes of the Week Announced

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Cuyahoga Community College nearly swept the latest OCCAC’s Spring Sport Athletes of the Week, bringing home three of the four accolades. Sinclair Baseball’s Josh Wilson spoiled the sweep by earning Pitcher of the Week recognition. For Tri-C, Lucas DiLuca is the Position Player of the Week while softballers Lexi Rehm and Daniele Revera are the Position Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Baseball Position Player of the Week

DiLuca batted .500 (7-14) with three extra-base hits (three doubles, two triples) as the Challengers posted a 4-1-1 record for the week. He drove in nine runs and scored 10 runs of his own. DiLuca was a factor in all six games, recorded at least one hit ore one run in each. He exploded for seven RBI in a 17-6 win over Louisburg College on March 16. DiLuca reached base at a .667 clip after drawing seven walks and swiped two bags once on the base paths.

Softball Position Player of the Week

Rehm hit .515 (17-33) with five extra-base hits (three doubles, two homeruns) in a busy week which included eight games (6-2). She totaled a dozen RBI and touched home plate 11 times personally after stealing two bases. Rehm totaled five multi-hit games and recorded at least one RBI in six of eight games.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Wilson surrendered a lone hit and two walks with an unearned run in five innings of action versus Grand Rapids. He earned the ‘W’ after striking out eight batters.

Softball Pitcher of the Week

Revera made three appearances in the circle for Cuyahoga, totaling 10.2 innings pitcher. She allowed two earned runs for the week on 11 hits and five walks while striking out four. She picked up the win in two of her three outings with a one-inning no decision in the other.
