Edison State and Sinclair Sweep Spring Sport Weekly Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Edison State Baseball and Sinclair Softball swept the OCCAC Spring Sport Athletes of the Week for March 5-11. Cameron Davis (position player) and Marcus Johnson (player) are the baseball honorees while Brianna West (position player) and Alexis Strother (pitcher) bring the softball awards back to Sinclair.

CAMERON DAVIS
Edison State Community College
Baseball Position Player of the Week

Davis batted .556 (5-9) with a homerun, triple, double and three RBI in three games (two wins) for Edison State. He became very familiar with home plate as well, scoring a half dozen runs. Davis drove in a run and scored a pair in all three contests.

BRIANNA WEST
Sinclair Community College
Softball Position Player of the Week

West reached base at a .727 clip in a busy 9-game week. She batted .600 (9-15) and drew seven walks as Sinclair went 9-0 for the week. West scored eight times while also batting in four more. In addition to her seven singles, she posted a pair of doubles. Once on the base paths, West wreaked havoc by swiping four bags.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Johnson tossed four shutout frames to earn the win in an 8-2 victory over OSU-Mansfield. He gave up a lone hit and two walks while fanning eight batters.

ALEXIS STROTHER
SinclairCommunity College
Softball Pitcher of the Week

Strother started four of nine games last week, earning the win in all four outings. She totaled 29.0 innings pitched for the week, registering a 0.72 ERA with only three earned runs plated. Strother racked up 30 strikeouts compared to just 22 base runners (14 H, 9 BB). She is now 5-0 on the season for the undefeated Tartan Pride (11-0).
