SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Four student-athletes received OCCAC Basketball Player of the Week honors on Monday (Dec. 11). Lorain County Community College swept the D-III awards (Mike Rell and Angel Blakely) while Devon Robinson of Cuyahoga Community College earned D-II men’s recognition and Riley Culver (Edison State) was the D-II female recipient.

Culver pushed the Chargers to 11-0 on the season by tacking on two more wins this past week. She averaged a double-double, putting up 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in the pair of victories. She shot 61% (11-18) from the floor overall and added five assists in the week’s first contest, a 74-59 triumph over Cedarville University JV. She is the first Charger to pick up the accolade since Sydney Miller since Feb. 19, 2017.

Blakely also chipped in two assists while converting on 8-of-18 from the field, 2-of-3 from long range and a 4-of-5 effort at the charity stripe.

Lorain County has now represented the D-III player of the week in four of six weeks following Hannah Oehlstrom’s back-to-back distinctions to start the season (Nov. 6, Nov. 13).
