OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week Selected

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) selected its first edition of Basketball Player of Week recipients for the 201-18 season and three different schools were represented. Armani Jackson of Lakeland and Cuyahoga’s Devon Robinson were the D-II winners while the Lorain County pair of Hannah Oehlstrom and Daniel Lott swept the D-III accolades.

ARMANI JACKSON
Lakeland Community College
Freshman forward

Jackson lifted the Lakers to wins over Niagara County and Erie in the season’s opening week. She averaged 18.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game (7.0/G on the offensive glass), coming up one rebound shy of back-to-back double-doubles. Jackson dropped in 17 points to go along with 16 boards on the road at Niagara County before an encore two days later vs. Erie which included 19 points and nine boards. For the week, Jackson converted on 13 of 30 field goal attempts (43.4%) and added in three blocks, two steals and two assists.

HANNAH OEHLSTROM
Lorain County Community College
Freshman guard

Oehlstrom logged 66 minutes in a split two-game week for Lorain County as the Commodores fell to Miami Middletown before a 65-54 besting of OU Chillicothe the following day. In the victorious effort, Oehlstrom was a force responsible for 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting (including 4-of-10 from long range), eight rebounds, two steals and an assist. She corralled eight rebounds in the week’s first contest as well, chipping in 11 points for an 18.5 points per game average. Oehlstrom rounded out her stat line with a pair of steals in each game.

DEVON ROBINSON
Cuyahoga Community College
Sophomore wing

Cuyahoga didn’t ease into the season at all, jumping right in with three games in a four-day span. The Challengers were triumphant in each, elevated by Robinson’s 13.0 points/game, 8.7 rebounds/game and 62.5 shooting percentage in three starts. He notched a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) in the opener against Allegheny County-Allegheny and nearly pulled off the feat again in Cuyahoga’s upset of No. 3 South Suburban College with 15 points and nine boards. Robinson was a menace defensively as well, recording multiple steals in all three games (eight steals total) and two blocks.

DANIEL LOTT
Lorain County Community College
Sophomore forward

Lott and the Commodores of Lorain County outscored Allegheny County-Boyce, 95-84, in their lone contest of the week. Lott dropped in 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including two 3-pointers. He grabbed eight rebounds as well.
