SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – All four OCCAC basketball players of the week on January 15 are repeat customers this season, paced by Cuyahoga Community College’s Devon Robinson reeling in his fourth weekly accolade of 2017-18 and fifth of his career. Additional honorees this week include Amanda Schroeder of Sinclair Community College (D-II) and Lorain County Community College’s Hannah Oehlstrom and Mike Rell as the D-III recipients.

AMANDA SCHROEDER
Sinclair Community College
Freshman forward

Amanda Schroeder lifted Sinclair to a top-10 victory last week, pushing the Tartan Pride past No. 8 Owens by a final score of 67-59. She played all 40 minutes while handing Owens its first conference loss of the year. Schroeder scored 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting (2-for-5 from long range) and knocking down all six foul shots. She added three rebounds, an assist and steal to her fourth player of the week winning performance this season.

HANNAH OEHLSTROM
Lorain County Community College
Freshman guard

Hannah Oehlstrom reached double-digit scoring in a pair of contests last week for Lorain County. She also hauled in four rebounds in each contest to go along with a weekly total of four assists and four steals. The freshman guard earns her third OCCAC Player of the Week recognition after staking claim to the crown in each of the first two weeks in her collegiate career (Nov. 6, Nov. 13).

DEVON ROBINSON
Cuyahoga Community College
Sophomore guard

Devon Robinson dropped in 38 points to lead Cuyahoga in an 80-65 victory over Lorain County, the first conference loss of the season for the Commodores, giving the Challengers sole possession of first place in the league standings. As mentioned above, this marks Robinson’s fourth weekly award of the year; one that he earned by adding 14 boards (seven offensive) to his 38-point explosion. That wasn’t all for Robinson, however, coming up a lone steal shy of the triple-double with nine swipes. He also recorded five assists in his 37 minutes of action.

MIKE RELL
Lorain County Community College
Sophomore guard

Mike Rell averaged 16.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game in a split week for Lorain County. He opened the week by connecting on 7-of-8 field goals, including a pair of three-balls, and all four tosses from the charity stripe to score 20 points versus No. 1 Cuyahoga. He tallied another dozen points accompanied by six rebounds and five assists in a victorious effort over Sinclair later in the week. Rell now owns three OCCAC Player of the Week laurels this season.
