Ruehlman, Shamblin Earn OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week Recognition

Springfield, Ohio---Tyler Shamblin and Kyle Ruehlman have been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player and pitcher of the week for games played May 1-7.

Ruehlman, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Sinclair Community College, tossed a seven-inning complete game in a 6-1 win over Cuyahoga Community College last week. He allowed just one hit, one run (zero earned) and one walk with four strikeouts to help his team claim an outright OCCAC championship by one game.

Ruehlman is now 4-1 overall this year with a 0.56 ERA. He has struck out 30 over 32 innings with four complete games.

Shamblin, a sophomore infielder from Edison Community College, batted 4-for-5 (.800) with six runs, two home runs, six RBI, two walks and a stolen base in a pair of wins over Clark State Community College last week.

Shamblin is now batting 26-for-100 (.260) with 21 runs, six doubles, four home runs, 18 RBI, seven walks and two stolen bases.

NOTES

There is no player and pitcher of the week awards in softball this week due to no teams being in action.
