Four Players Earn OCCAC Baseball, Softball Player, Pitcher of the Week Awards

Springfield, Ohio---Sinclair Community College's Kierah Parker and Azim Qadri, along with Cuyahoga Community College's Racquel Ward and Anthony Savarino, have earned this week's OCCAC player and pitcher of the week awards in baseball and softball.

OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week
Azim Qadri, Sinclair C.C.

Qadri, redshirt freshman outfielder for Sinclair, went 5-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, one triple, one home run and 10 RBI in a win over Tiffin University's JV team before finishing the week 5-for-12 with three runs, two doubles, one triple, one home run and 10 RBI.

Qadri helped lead Sinclair to a 3-1 week with a win over Tiffin's JV team and a 2-1 record against Kellogg Community College.

Qadri is now hitting .346 with two home runs, 12 RBI and six runs through eight games this year. His team is 7-2 overall entering this weekend's four-game series against Grand Rapids Community College.

OCCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Anthony Savarino, Cuyahoga C.C.

Savarino, a sophomore RHP from Olmsted Falls, Ohio, picked up a complete game victory over Louisburg College last week. In his team's 7-2 win on March 11, he recorded a line of seven innings, five hits, two runs (one earned) and two walks with four strikeouts.

Savarino is now 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA and 10 strikeouts over 12.2 innings and two appearances this season for Cuyahoga (4-5 overall). His team is back in action today and tomorrow against Wake Technical Community College.

OCCAC Softball Player of the Week
Kierah Parker, Sinclair C.C.

Parker, a freshman outfielder from Kettering, Ohio, went 11-for-28 (.393) last week with 10 runs, two doubles, two triples, an RBI and a stolen base against some tough competition. She scored her team's lone run against No. 1 ranked Jones County and went 5-for-6 with five runs, two doubles, one triple, one RBI and one stolen base in a 15-14 win over John Wood.

Parker led her team to a 3-5 record last week in games against No. 1 Jones County, No. 2 LSU-Eunice, No. 13 Parkland, Sauk Valley, Labette, John Wood and St. Cloud Technical.

Parker is now hitting .348 over 16 games this year with 12 runs, six RBI and three stolen bases.

OCCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Racquel Ward, Cuyahoga C.C.

In her lone appearance of the week, Ward went 1-0 and allowed just two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings in a 1-0 win over Madison College on March 12.

The Ashland, Ohio native is now 2-1 overall this year with 14 strikeouts over 14 innings with a 1.50 ERA.

Cuyahoga is now 4-2 overall this year. They have won four straight heading into tomorrow's games against Rowan College at Burlington County and Niagara County.
