Jones, Shutrump, Wills, Ward Garner OCCAC POTW Honors

Springfield, Ohio---Levi Jones, John Shutrump, Beth Wills and Racquel Ward have been voted as the OCCAC player and pitcher of the week recipients for the week of April 3-9.

OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week
Levi Jones, Lakeland C.C.

Jones, a sophomore outfielder, batted 10-for-14 (.714) with seven runs, three doubles, one home run, 12 RBI and four walks as his team picked up a four-game sweep of Clark State Community College to open conference season.

Jones is now batting 36-for-68 (.529) this season with 19 runs, eight doubles, two home runs, 33 RBI, seven walks and three stolen bases this season over 20 games.

Lakeland is now 11-12 overall and 4-0 in OCCAC play. They are scheduled to travel to Potomac State College of West Virginia this afternoon.

OCCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
John Shutrump, Sinclair C.C.

Shutrump, a sophomore pitcher, tossed a seven-inning complete game shutout in a 13-0 win over Edison Community College. He struck out six while allowing five hits and two walks.

Shutrump is now 6-1 this year with a 3.21 ERA and three complete games over 42 innings. He has struck out 22 and allowed just seven walks.

Sinclair is now 26-5 overall and 8-0 in OCCAC play. They are scheduled to host Miami University - Hamilton campus tomorrow evening.

OCCAC Softball Player of the Week
Beth Wills, Cuyahoga C.C.

Wills, a freshman first baseman, batted 13-for-20 (.650) with 13 runs, 12 RBI, five doubles, one triple, three walks and one stolen base over six games. In four conference games, which included sweeps of Lakeland Community College and Sinclair Community College, she batted 9-for-15 (.600) with nine runs, three doubles, one triple, 10 RBI, two walks and one stolen base. Her team went 6-0 during the week.

Wills is now batting 19-for-41 (.463) with 18 runs, six doubles, one triple, one home run, 15 RBI, six walks and one stolen base this year.

Cuyahoga is now 18-8 overall and 4-0 in OCCAC play. They are scheduled to host Mercyhurst North East Community College this afternoon.

OCCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Racquel Ward, Cuyahoga C.C. 

Ward, a sophomore pitcher, went 4-0 with a 1.81 ERA over 23.2 innings across four appearances. She struck out 26 and walked five. In OCCAC play, she went 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA with 18 strikeouts over 15.2 innings. 

Ward is now 11-2 overall this year with seven complete games over 73 innings. She has a 1.34 ERA and has struck out 80 and walked just 13.

Cuyahoga is now 18-8 overall and 4-0 in OCCAC play. They are scheduled to host Mercyhurst North East Community College this afternoon.
