Starcovic, Bueter, Hartzell, Irons Earn OCCAC POTW Recognition

Springfield, Ohio--Matt Starcovic, Axel Bueter, Shelby Hartzell and Mackenzie Irons have been voted as the OCCAC player and pitcher of the week recipients in baseball and softball, respectively, for the week of April 17-23.

OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week
Matt Starcovic, Cuyahoga CC

Starcovic, a sophomore outfielder for the Challengers, batted 11-for-20 (.550) with 11 runs, four doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, four walks and one stolen base last week. He had at least one hit in every game and at least one RBI and one run in all but one game.

Starcovic is batting 58-for-126 (.460) with 48 runs, 15 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 46 RBI, 21 walks and six stolen bases in 39 games this year. His team is 32-9 overall and 11-1 in OCCAC play. They have won 15 straight heading into today's doubleheader against Malone University JV.

OCCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Axel Bueter, Cuyahoga CC

Bueter, a sophomore LHP for the Challengers, went 2-0 last week with wins against Walsh University JV and Clark State. In 10.2 innings, he allowed just one earned run and three hits while striking out 19.

Bueter is now 3-0 this year over 19.2 innings with a 3.20 ERA. He has struck out 27 in eight appearances. His team is 32-9 overall and 11-1 in OCCAC play. They have won 15 straight heading into today's doubleheader against Malone University JV.

OCCAC Softball Player of the Week
Mackenzie Irons, Sinclair CC 

Irons, a freshman outfielder for the Tartan Pride, batted 8-for-18 (.444) with three runs, two doubles, four RBI, one walk and one stolen base last week. Her team went 4-2 overall.

Irons is now batting 25-for-81 (.309) this season with 16 runs, five doubles, one home run, 13 RBI, seven walks. 

Sinclair is 18-21 overall and 4-4 in OCCAC play. They are back in action on Friday at home against Clark State.

OCCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Shelby Hartzell, Sinclair CC

Hartzell, a freshman RHP for the Tartan Pride, went 4-1 with a 1.39 ERA over 25.1 innings last week. She struck out 25 while walking just three batters over five appearances. 

Hartzell is now 13-11 overall this year with two saves and nine complete games. In 133.1 innings, she has a 3.57 ERA with 113 strikeouts.

Sinclair is 18-21 overall and 4-4 in OCCAC play. They are back in action on Friday at home against Clark State.
