Springfield, Ohio---Matt Starcovic, Anthony Savarino, Jazzlyn Petry and Allison Minnich have been named this week's OCCAC player and pitcher of the week recipients in baseball and softball.
OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week
Matt Starcovic, Cuyahoga C.C.
Starcovic, a sophomore outfielder, batted 7-for-13 (.538) with five runs, two home runs and five RBI in a four-game sweep of Monroe Community College.
Cuyahoga is now 13-8 overall this year. Starcovic is batting 30-for-68 (.441) with 22 runs, four doubles, one triple, four home runs, 18 RBI, eight walks and two stolen bases. He has a .519 on base percentage and a .706 slugging percentage.
OCCAC Pitcher of the Week
Anthony Savarino, Cuyahoga C.C.
Savarino, a sophomore RHP, went 1-0 while tossing a complete game shutout in a 2-0 win over Monroe Community College. He allowed just one hit and no walks while striking out five.
Cuyahoga is now 13-8 overall this year. Savarino is 4-0 with a 1.21 ERA over 29.2 innings with 26 strikeouts while allowing just 16 hits and eight walks.
OCCAC Softball Player of the Week
Jazzlyn Petry, Sinclair C.C.
Petry, a freshman catcher/1B, batted 7-for-11 (.636) with three runs, four doubles, one home run and three RBI over four games.
Sinclair is now 11-16 overall this year. Petry is hitting 31-for-77 (.403) with 11 runs, eight doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI and four walks. She has a .432 on base percentage and a .584 slugging percentage.
OCCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Allison Minnich, Sinclair C.C.
Minnich, a freshman RHP, went 2-0 over three appearances last week against Rio Grande JV and Mercyhurst North East. She struck out three while allowing 13 hits and three walks.
Sinclair is now 11-16 overall this year. Minnich is 4-2 with a 6.13 ERA over 45.2 innings with 22 strikeouts.
