Moore, Coleman Named Final OCCAC Basketball POTW Recipients Of 2016-17

Springfield, Ohio---Ashley Moore and Anthony Coleman have been named the final Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) basketball player of the week recipients of the 2016-17 season.

Moore led the Cincinnati State women's basketball team to a district championship this past weekend, which included an upset of No. 2 ranked and undefeated Owens Community College in the championship game. She averaged 17.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, three steals and two assists in a pair of games.

In her team's 81-55 semifinal win over Cuyahoga Community College, the freshman guard had 10 points, one steal and one assist. In the championship game, she had a game-high 25 points along with five rebounds, three assists, five steals and one block. In those two games, she combined to shoot 10-for-16 from the field, 3-for-6 from 3-point range and 12-for-12 from the foul line.

Moore has led Cincinnati State in scoring this year with averages of 17.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, two assists and 3.3 steals per game. Her team is 26-6 overall entering the NJCAA Division II National Tournament next week.

Coleman, meanwhile, led the Cincinnati State men's basketball team to a district championship, which included an upset of No. 5 Cuyahoga Community College in the championship game. 

The sophomore guard averaged 24.5 points, six rebounds, 2.5 steals and one assist per game in wins over Sinclair and Cuyahoga. In the 88-59 win over Sinclair, he had 27 points, eight rebounds, four steals and one assist. In the 90-86 win over Cuyahoga, he had 22 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Coleman combined to shoot 18-for-31 from the field in the two games, including a 6-for-11 performance from 3-point range and a 7-for-10 finish from the foul line.

Entering the NJCAA Division II National Tournament, Coleman has averaged 18.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game this year for Cincinnati State, which is now 25-7 overall and claimed a share of the OCCAC regular season championship.
