Frederick, Moore Named OCCAC D-II Player of the Week Recipients

Springfield, Ohio---Akiean Frederick, a sophomore forward from the Sinclair Community College men's basketball team, and Ashley Moore, a freshman guard from the Cincinnati State Technical and Community College women's basketball team, have been named this week's Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Division II player of the week recipients.

Frederick's team lost 83-76 to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, but the sophomore forward produced 22 points and 12 rebounds on 10-for-19 shooting. Three of his rebounds came on the offensive glass, and he also added one block.

Frederick is averaging 23.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.9 blocks per game this year for Sinclair, a team that is now 12-2 overall and 1-1 in OCCAC play. They will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Cincinnati State.

Moore, meanwhile, was fantastic in a pair of wins for Cincinnati State. She opened the week by pouring in 37 points to lead her team to an upset of NJCAA Division I Vincennes University on the road. In that game, she shot 12-for-20 from the field, including a 10-for-14 finish from 3-point range. She also made 3-for-4 from the foul line while adding five rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Then, in a 102-39 win over conference foe Clark State Community College, Moore had 16 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals. She finished 6-for-13 from the field, including a 3-for-10 finish from 3-point range and made her lone free throw attempt.

Moore is averaging 19.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 2.6 steals per game for Cincinnati State, which is 12-3 overall and 3-0 in OCCAC play. Her team will be back in action on Wednesday against Sinclair Community College on the road.

At the Division III level, there were no games by conference members, thus we only have the Division II winners this week.
