Week 2: Tucker, Reese Earn OCCAC POTW Recognition

Springfield, Ohio---The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) has named Jaylen Tucker and Jeryn Reese the player of the week recipients in men's and women's basketball, respectively.

Tucker, a sophomore forward for the Owens Community College men's basketball team, averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds, one assist, one steal and 1.5 blocks per game in wins over Henry Ford College and Washtenaw Community College last week.

In his team's 90-80 overtime win over Henry Ford, Tucker had 17 points, 15 rebounds (five offensive), two assists, two blocks and one steal. He then closed the week with 23 points on 10-for-12 shooting along with 11 rebounds (two offensive), one steal and one block in a 118-61 win over Washtenaw.

Tucker now has double-doubles in all three games for his team this year as Owens is 3-0 overall. Overall, he is averaging 17.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.3 blocks and one assist per game.. His team will be back in action tomorrow with a 7:30 p.m. road matchup against No. 6 Schoolcraft College.

Reese, a sophomore forward for the Owens Community College women's basketball team, produced 22 points, eight rebounds (three offensive), four assists, two steals and one block in her team's 122-46 win over Wayne County. She reached those numbers in just 20 minutes of play while shooting an efficient 10-for-13 from the field in her team's lone game of the week.

Reese, the reigning OCCAC player of the year, is now averaging 18 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game this year. She signed with NCAA Division I La Salle University on Monday.
